Michael M. Piechowski is a Senior Fellow of the Institute for Educational Advancement and Professor Emeritus, Northland College, Ashland, Wisconsin. He has studied and written extensively on the developmental potential of the gifted as well as on spiritual giftedness, and is the author of ‘Mellow Out’ They Say. If I Only Could, and co-editor with Susan Daniels of Living With Intensity. He lives in Madison, Wisconsin.

 

 

 

Rosina GallagherFriday Dinner: Rosina M. Gallagher

“¡Si se puede…Juntos podemos! – Yes we can…Together we can!”

Born and raised in Mexico through early adolescence, Dr. Gallagher acknowledges her Latin American heritage with pride and commitment to help young people become competent, resilient individuals who embrace life fully in community with others. Her 30-year career as psychologist and administrator in the Chicago Public Schools includes serving gifted children and their families. In 2012, she assumes the presidency of the Illinois Association for Gifted Children, after serving as president of SENG from 2008-2011. A recent publication is Educando Hijos Exitosos, co-authored with James T. Webb.

 

 

Saturday Lunch: Joy Lawson Davis

“The Immeasurable Value of Family Involvement: Addressing the unique challenges of Culturally Diverse Gifted & High Ability Students”

Dr. Davis, author of Bright, Talented, & Black: A Guide for Families of African American Gifted Learners, is an Assistant Professor of Education at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she teaches courses in Diversity Education and Gifted Education. She is Chair of the NAGC’s Diversity & Equity Committee, a columnist for Teaching for High Potential. Dr. Davis is also a consultant to school districts nationwide and with the International Gifted Education Teacher Development Network (Iget-Network), providing professional development support for educators in the Caribbean and South Africa.
