SENG Community Groups: Gifted Adults

SENG is excited to announce an initial offering of a SENG Community Group (SCG) for Gifted Adults! This six-week session will be co-led by SCG Facilitators Kristin Ashley and Sylvia Bagley. If you identify as a gifted adult (or are curious to learn more), please join us! Topics we will cover in our discussions include what it means to be gifted as an adult; how we experienced growing up gifted (whether we were formally designated or not); how to leverage our unique strengths in the world; and how to address the challenges we face. Our goal is to center topics of interest and need for participants, and we encourage ongoing suggestions!

Who Should Join? Any adults who identify as gifted or gifted-adjacent (see here for one overview: https://rainforestmind.com/the-quiz/)

Why: To provide peer support and community for gifted adults

When: Six Mondays in November and December from 5-6:30 p.m. PT

Specific Dates: 11/13, 11/20, 11/27, 12/4, 12/11, and 12/18 (it’s fine to miss a session!)

Where: Online by Zoom (sessions will NOT be recorded)

Facilitator Bios:

Kristin Ashley: Kristin is a gifted adult passionate about helping people heal, recover, and create happiness as they cross the thresholds of life’s challenges and joys. A holistic health clinician, registered yoga therapist (C-IAYT), and registered yoga teacher (200-RYT) with a background in clinical psychology, English, yoga, and holistic health, Kristin is crossing a new threshold of her own as she prepares to launch The Holi Land, her holistic health clinic where she will offer clinical yoga therapy and holistic health coaching both in-person and online. Kristin lives near New Orleans, Louisiana with her cat, Mina. She serves on SENG’s Board of Directors as Communications Chair.

Sylvia S Bagley, Ph.D.: Sylvia is a gifted adult serving on SENG’s Board of Directors as Secretary of the Executive Committee and Chair of SENG Community Groups. She is co-parenting three twice-exceptional kids between the ages of 10 and 15, and is grateful for ongoing support from SENG, which started for her by attending one of SENG’s local support groups for parents. She is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles, where she earned her doctorate in the history and philosophy of education. She was formerly an elementary school teacher and instructional math coach, and is now a professor of equitable instructional leadership in the College of Education at the University of Washington, Seattle.
