About The Event
The growth of “social & emotional learning” as a special stream with learning and pedagogy, with its own tools and methodologies, has been fueled by the pandemic. Parents, teachers, and students themselves have expressed concern
about the toll that isolation and lack of meaningful social learning experiences is having on the mental and emotional well-being of a whole generation of learners.
In this workshop, we’ll explore the practices of mindfulness from a scientific and pedagogical point of view and see how it
comprises the core of effective SEL strategies, with research-based evidence that it has benefits to our physiology,
neurobiology, and psychology. The workshop will be both informative and practical, as the facilitator, a certified trainer of science-based mindfulness, will lead us through simple practices that can be applied in any learning situation.
About the Presenter:
Ben Koch, M.Ed. is co-founder of NuMinds Enrichment and a certified trainer of science-based mindfulness. After years of
teaching gifted students in public schools, he co-founded NuMinds in 2013, where they’ve been designing student programs, teacher trainings, and parent workshops around the premise of an holistic model they call real, inspired learning.
