APA Seminar Counseling Gifted Individuals: A Case Study Approach

This interactive workshop is designed for those mental health clinicians and educators who are interested in learning more about multiple pathways for addressing concerns related to the unique inner world of gifted individuals.  Major definitions of giftedness will be provided so that participants can recognize the varied perspectives in the field.  The psychological development of gifted individuals will be compared and contrasted with neurotypical individuals. A discussion related to the predictable developmental crises that are germane to many gifted people will be conducted. The workshop will conclude with moving from theory to practice as clinical case materials are shared providing a deeper understanding of giftedness and psychological development. The facilitators will deliver the material in an invitational manner designed to encourage group participation.  Large and small group discussions will offer opportunities for processing new ideas.
