About The Event

Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted (SENG) and Gifted Development Center (GDC) Present:

A series of professional development courses for psychologists, school counselors, administrators, and examiners of gifted and twice exceptional children. The series will generate APA Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Others may take the courses without earning APA CEUs.

Dyslexia and the Gifted: A Course for Psychologists

Fernette Eide, M.D., and Brock Eide, M.D., M.A.

What should psychologists know about dyslexia and giftedness?  This course provides an overview of core issues concerning gifted students and dyslexia, including presentation and identification, classroom challenges, accommodations, remediation, social and emotional issues, and areas of controversy.  Drs. Brock and Fernette Eide are leading international authorities on dyslexia and learning differences. They co-authored the international bestseller, The Dyslexic Advantage, revised and updated in larger print in 2023, and The Mislabeled Child. For 20 years, they have tested countless individuals with learning differences from all over the world in their private practice and co-founded the non-profit organization, Dyslexic Advantage (https://dyslexicadvantage.org) and social purpose corporation Neurolearning (https://neurolearning.com).   Fernette F. Eide, M.D., is a graduate of Harvard-Radcliffe College and the University of California-San Francisco School of Medicine. Brock L. Eide, M.D. M.A.is a graduate of the University of Washington College of Arts & Sciences and Medical School in addition to the University of Chicago Committee on Social Thought. Both have taught dyslexia lectures for the Stanford Graduate School of Education and other universities, as well as K-12 schools, parenting groups, and corporations. They have also served as consultants to the President’s Council on Bioethics.

Cost: $200 

When you register for this course, you will receive a link to a Google Drive folder containing all necessary materials. In order to receive your APA CE credits, you must watch the course recording and read all mandatory readings. Once you have done so, you must then complete the Course Quiz (passing with a grade of 80% or better) then complete the Course Evaluation. Once you have completed both the Quiz and the Evaluation, you will receive a certificate of completion from the SENG staff within 5-7 business days.
