About The Event
This father-daughter dynamic duo will take you on a personal pyscho-social-emotional academic journey. Through race/identity, poetry, big data, and personal stories; the listener will be moved. Chronicling nearly 15 years Haviland’s academic journey as a young Black child through the private elite school process, and her father’s (a scholar of gifted children), academic model in action.
About the Presenter:
Dr. Gilman W. Whiting, Vanderbilt University professor and the creator of the Scholar Identity Model and Institute. Author of over 100 scholarly publications; and Ms. Haviland N. G. Whiting, Harpeth Hall School, 2018 NAGC Jenkins Scholar, 2018, Nashville Youth Poet Laureate, 2019 Southeast Region Poet Laureate, and now a US Poet Laureate Ambassador; Haviland is also the author of And What Would You Say If You Could, (2019, Third Man Books, Nashville, TN).
